following a recent investigation by the food standards agency (FSA) into mustard-based products potentially being contaminated with peanuts, they have now lifted their precautionary allergy advice. the investigation confirmed that all affected products have now been removed from sale and that necessary food safety measures have now been implemented
however, while the FSA has concluded its investigations and lifted their advisory notice, wagamama will continue to observe the recent precautionary protocols. this means that for the time being, we are maintaining our warning that all dishes containing katsu curry mix contains peanuts
the safety and wellbeing of our customers is paramount. only once we are completely certain that the risk of peanut contamination within our katsu curry is completely eliminated will we remove this warning
in the meantime, we therefore advise those individuals with peanut allergies to continue to avoid our dishes which contain katsu curry mix. we will continue to monitor this situation closely and provide further updates as soon as we have them
thank you for your understanding and for your continued support
we've been made aware of an issue with a longstanding supplier who produce the spice mix for our katsu sauce and curry mix
the food standards agency has stepped in and alerted operators and would be customers of the risk of peanut contamination within mustard - sub-ingredient of spice mix, originating from this supplier. this has been covered in the press and is impacting a number of well-known food and retail brands
being a restaurant operator that has worked hard to be 'nut and peanut free' we take this very seriously and find ourselves in the position where we have been left with no option but to take the responsible precautionary step to declare with immediate effect that all dishes containing katsu sauce and curry mix 'contains peanuts' until further notice
we are therefore advising anyone who believes they may have a sensitivity to peanuts to avoid consuming any of our dishes which contain katsu sauce or curry mix until further notice. these include:
all variants of our kids and regular katsu dishes which are served with katsu sauce or hot katsu sauce
chicken katsu salad
chicken katsu waffle
eggs benedict, eggs florentine and eggs royale which contain katsu sauce within the hollandaise sauce
kare burosu ramen which contains curry mix within its broth
roti + raisukatsu
if you have any queries relating to this please follow the food standard agency advice or contact us via our customer services link
we want everyone to be able to enjoy wagamama. so, we have put together a guide to show which of our dishes are suitable for a range of different dietary requirements
the guide lists the allergenic ingredients in each of our dishes and also shows which are suitable for vegan and vegetarian diets
if you don’t find the information you need in our guides or are at all unsure of anything, just ask a member of the team when you’re in the restaurant. we are able to modify some recipes to remove or replace certain ingredients and try to be as flexible as possible
